FILE INTEGRITY GUIDE

Keep a downloaded file and its SHA256SUMS file in the same folder.

On Linux:
  sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS

On macOS:
  shasum -a 256 -c SHA256SUMS

On Windows PowerShell:
  Get-FileHash .\file-integrity-guide.txt -Algorithm SHA256

Compare the complete hexadecimal digest with the value in SHA256SUMS.
A matching digest confirms that the file matches that checksum. It does
not establish who created the file; obtain both from a source you trust.
